Across the networks we cover, the earliest train is 4:40 AM on the Delhi Metro and the last is 11:55 PM on the Namma Metro. Most lines run roughly 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, several start an hour later on Sundays, and the times shown are departures from a terminus — from a station part way along a line the first is later and the last earlier.

Single journeys run from ₹10 to ₹90 depending on the network and how far you go. Delhi and Noida charge a lower scale on Sundays and national holidays. A stored-value card saves between 5% and 10% on every trip, which pays for itself quickly if you travel daily.

Yes, and the planner handles it. Delhi, Noida and Gurugram meet on foot at Sikanderpur and between Noida Sector 52 and Sector 51, so a single trip can use two operators. You buy a separate ticket for each, and the fare shown adds them together — which is how such travel is actually billed.

Fares are the operator’s published figures wherever we have sourced their table, and are labelled as estimates where we have not. Times cover time on the train only: they exclude waiting for the first train and the walk between platforms, and vary with frequency and crowding.

A stored-value smart card is the cheapest way if you travel often — on Delhi Metro it takes 10% off every fare and a further 10% outside peak hours, and it carries a refundable deposit. Single journeys are bought at the station as a QR ticket; Delhi's older RFID tokens were withdrawn in 2024.

Fares and card discounts

Yes. Every station screens passengers and bags at entry, so allow a few extra minutes at busy stations and during rush hour. On the Delhi Metro this is run by the CISF, which has policed the network since 2007.

On the Delhi Metro the first coach of every train has been reserved for women since October 2010, and platform markings show where it stops. On the Red, Green and Violet lines the last coach is also reserved where a train reverses at a terminus, so check the markings rather than assuming the front.
